Despite all the pre-game media and the skeptics saying that the Chicago Bears could not beat the Indianapolis Colts, they came through. They probably played the best game they have played since year before last. The defense was after Peyton Manning all night and, even though they only got to him once or twice, they made him feel rushed. The sad thing is that so many people are still saying that Manning was hurt and if he had been 100%, he would have pulled out a win. I am not so sure. I think the Colts came into the game with the attitude that they were automatic winners and were as prepared to play the game as the Bears were prepared.
Another sad thing is how much Quarterback Kyle Orton is maligned in the media. After the game, NFL Sports says: "Bears QB Kyle Orton was not spectacular, but he efficiently led the offense." Before coming to the Chicago Bears, Kyle Orton was a quarterback at a big-time program – Purdue!! He has a winning record as a starting quarterback and is one of the reasons the Bears went to the Superbowl year before last. He played a good game and was basically mistake free.
And how about that new Bears rookie Running Back, Matt Forte? He had a great NFL debut gaining 123 yards on the ground with three catches for 18 yards including a touchdown catch for 50 yards.
Here is hoping the same team will show up against the Carolina Panthers this week-end!!
